Craneford Shiraz 2005 - Australia (£7.15)
Barossa Shiraz aged in 85% French and15% American oak. Loads of blackberry fruit are found in this opulent, full-bodied, pure, heady (14.7% alcohol) Shiraz. It possesses a pure flavour, good texture, and offers considerable value.
Brick Road Pinotage 2005 – South Africa (£5.99)
This light, unwooded red is suitable for early drinking. With its sweet fruit flavours of raspberry and mulberry, it can be enjoyed either with red meat dishes or it is equally enjoyable on its own. The Pinotage grape is unique to South Africa and is derived from the noble Pinot Noir and Cinsaut varieties.
Rioja Viña Pomal 2003 – Spain (£6.89)
Viña Pomal Rioja is made by Bodegas Bilbainas in Haro, Rioja Alta. Made from 85% Tempranillo and 15% Graciano and Mazuelo, this ruby coloured wine has intense spicy aromas of tobacco, clove and red fruits and is round and full-bodied with a lingering pleasant finish.
Cline Zinfandel 2005 – U.S.A. (£8.89)
This classic Californian showcases a wide array of dark berry fruit including black cherry and raspberry. Additionally, spice notes and a lasting finish of vanilla from oak aging and firm, supple tannins add complexity to this wine. This wine is ready to drink now and will continue to develop complexity over the next three to four years.
DFJ Tinta Roriz/Merlot 2004 - Portugal (£6.15)
Medium-bodied, juicy red from a blend of the Rioja grape with the ubiquitous Merlot.
